To me, somebody who grew up in a rustic with a 90-kilometer (66-mile) shoreline of the Baltic sea, whales appear nearly as legendary as mermaids. So once I stumbled upon Jem Cresswell’s picture sequence Giants, I skilled a profound contradiction. On one hand, the highly effective black and white photographs introduced me nearer to witnessing these majestic animals. However on the opposite, they reassured my perception that whales are creatures past my comprehension. If there’s one factor I am sure of, nonetheless, it is that Jem’s images provide an intimate glimpse into the non-public world of those light creatures.
